The Critical Role of Design in Nonprofit Storytelling featuring Ryan Portnoy

Hello and welcome to the Nonprofit Narrative Podcast, the go-to podcast for insights that matter to nonprofits. Today, we’re diving into the fascinating world of design and how it can elevate the brand and story of nonprofit organizations. I had the pleasure of speaking with my brother, Ryan Portnoy, a remarkable designer who runs The Good Story, along with his wife, Kelly. The Good Story is a nonprofit that helps small organizations get their stories out through strategic design. You can check out his work at thegoodstory.com.

Meet Ryan Portnoy

Ryan Portnoy is not just my brother but a seasoned expert in design. Despite any cries of nepotism, Ryan truly excels in what he does. His keen sense of style and ability to arrange things beautifully set him apart. We’ve been talking design since our early twenties, and I’m thrilled to have him share his insights with our listeners.

Ryan’s Journey into Design

Ryan’s journey into design started from a young age, fueled partly by our dad’s occupation in the printing industry. He has dabbled in various facets of design, from band posters to commercial photography, always maintaining a thread of consistency in his love for visual art.
